On Wednesday 29th March, the Straits U16 Netball Team travelled to Uplands to play in the U16 & U18 Tournament against, Tenby, Uplands and POWIIS.  The Straits team was a mixture of senior players and girls from the U/14 team. With only 7 students the team worked hard in the early halves of 7 minutes to defend and slow down the fast-paced first game with Tenby. Straits worked hard in defence and managed to turn the ball around into our favour but Tenby were too strong with their defence when we had opportunity to shoot.

In the second game, the Straits players started to improve on their weaknesses after a few changes of position on court. Adding a few key defenders into the GD and GK positions, Straits were able to ensure they maintained possession of the ball to score 2 goals in a very close game against POWIIS. Their strengths really shone during this match.

In the final game of the Tournament Straits started with a strong game and scored early in the first half. Unfortunately, a few missed goal opportunities and the fast and tight defence of Uplands was much too strong on the day. Overall the Straits students enjoyed and developed in each game showing great sportsmanship and resilience, especially as they only had 7 players.

This will be the final competition for the U16 team as the Yr 11 students now focus on their final year of studies. Well done!
