Report: On Monday 2nd October the Straits 11 and Under Football team travelled to Tenby for a friendly football match. This time we had 1 team which played a 40 minute game against Tenby's best team.

1st Half

There was a tense start to the game with Tenby having wave after wave of attacks, only to be kept out by some brilliant last-ditch defending by Straits, as well as some fine goalkeeping from Ravi. Unfortunately, Tenby finally found a breakthrough with a long-range shot and quickly added a second to make it 2-0. After this, Straits grew into the game and started mounting attacks of their own. Some quick passing allowed Straits to put pressure on the Tenby goal but they were unable to convert the chances they created. With half-time fast approaching Tenby added a third goal just before the whistle to make it Tenby 3-0 Straits at half time.

2nd Half.

Having lost a late goal in the first half, the team could have felt demoralized, but when they came out for the second half, Straits started the quicker team and dominated the opening exchanges of the half coming agonizingly close to scoring. Tenby showed some resilient defending until eventually, Straits found their first goal. Quick-fire shots from Brendan and Mohamad lead to the defender scoring into his own goal. Tenby 3 – 1 Straits.  Straits continued to dominate and found a second goal. Brendan dribbled past a player a shot excellently into the top corner. Tenby 3 – 2 Straits. Straits were now playing some excellent football, passing quickly and using all the space on the pitch in search of an equalizer. They could have found it too! Hariharan had a free kick cleared off the line from some brave defending from Tenby.

As Straits pushed forward to find their next goal towards the end of the game, they left space in defence which Tenby exploited. Tenby found their striker twice in the final 5 minutes of the game to make the final score Tenby 5 – 2 Straits. It was a fantastic effort from all members of the team. The boys demonstrated their skills, worked hard for each other and also showed respect and sportsmanship towards the other team.
