What we learnt about this week

Dear Parents,

This week in English, we redrafted our narratives based on our text Wolf Brother.

In Maths, we completed all of our presentation work and rehearsed the presentation itself. Finally, we were all able to present very successful projects to the rest of the class.

In Science, we completed our learning on simple chemical reactions. Our last subtopic was on combustion and the products produced. We were shown a demonstration on how to make ‘Gaviscon worms’, which is a chemical reaction between sodium alginate and hydrochloric acid.

In Humanities, we have been learning about the development of American states; with pioneers, outlaws, and even the American cowboy settling in the Wild West.   We have used our descriptive writing skills to create wanted posters aiming to catch cowboys on the run.

What we plan for next week

Next week in English, we will publish our narratives based on our text Wolf Brother.

In Maths, we will be constructing patterns using angles, circles and straight lines.

Next week, in Science, we will be introduced to the topics that will be covered in Year 7 (secondary).

Next week in Humanities, we will be writing persuasivly to promote America as a tourist destination.

Homework goes home on a Thursday and should be returned by the following Tuesday.

English: Read chapters 12 – 14 and record some notes.

Science: to complete a worksheet on combustion.
