What we learnt about this week
This week in English, students began creating leaflets to showcase our persuasive writing in the form of advertisements. They learned how to use comparatives and superlatives, drop in sentences, double adjectives, figurative language, and how to structure the layout of a leaflet. They also began reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.
In Maths, we have been learning how to draw perimeter, area, bar charts, Venn and Carroll diagrams.
In Science this week, we learned about pitch and volume. We even made a small guitar using a box and some rubber bands. We also revised on the topic, Electricity.
In Humanities, Year 4 learnt about the Anglo-Saxons, who they were and when they invaded Britain.
What we plan for next week
In English, students will finish their persuasive writing unit by learning how to include a testimonial and the reason why testimonials are so effective. They will also continue to read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and complete complex reading analysis and comprehension tasks.
Next week in Maths, we will be doing some practice test questions and mental maths problems.
Next week, in Science, we will continue to learn about electricity.
In Humanities, students will examine the reasons for the influence and changes brought about by the Anglo-Saxons, during their historical prominance in Britain.
For English, find example of testimonials online, copy and paste them onto Edmodo.
In Maths, students are to Finish Thinking Numbers (2) and do page 97, 99, 102 and 103 of the textbook.
Our Science homework is to complete page 75 and 76 in the Science workbook.
In Humanities, compelete the worksheets on Anglo Saxons on Edmodo.
