What we learnt about this week
This week in English, the Year Four students finished and presented their project based learning on the environment and persuasive letter writing – they also completed their end of year assessments.
In Maths, students have been practising and sitting for their Year End Exams.
In Science this week, we completed the end of year exam.
In Humanities, the students created several drafts of ordnance survey maps to recognise the value of working to improve completed tasks.
What we plan for next week
In English, students will finish their literacy reader and begin closing the gap in their learning by analysing their assessments.
Next week in Maths, students will be reviewing through the exam paper and undertake more practice on certain type of problem-solving questions that often appear in exam paper.
In Science, we will be learning about magnetism and how it works.
In Humanities, students will learn how to measure distances on scaled maps and give six figure coordinates.
For English, take home your projects and improve it by adding the features you feel are missing.
In Maths, students are to do practice questions in their SATs practice questions pack.
Our Science homework is to complete the worksheets.
In Humanities, choose an area in the world to research and find an os map for that area. Send in on Edmodo or print.
How you can help your child at home
- Encourage healthy eating habits- healthy snacks and lunches, and a water bottle
- Provide a calm environment for your child to study
- Praise efforts and encourage your child to be independent
- Refer to your child’s timetable for reminders about library and PE (wear PE uniform on PE days!)
- Help your child to develop a love of reading - give praise, use reading as a reward; write in their Home Reader book (Yellow book!).
