What we learnt about this week

Dear Parents,

This week in English, we will be completing our final piece of our project and preparing our speaking roles for the Project Based Learning open morning.

In Maths, we have been taking part in Maths assessments and continuing to close the gap on our learning from this year by revisiting our times tables and reading and writing the names of numbers.

In Science, we have been taking part in Science assessments and continuing our Project Based Learning unit.

In Drama, we have been practising the sailors dance for the production.

What we plan for next week

Next week in English, we will be researching and writing our own report about an endangered animal.

Next week in Maths, we will be starting a new topic, ‘Measurement’. We will be identifying units of length and distance and learning when to use them.

Next week in Science, we will be exploring and identifying food chains as well as creating our own food chain.

Next week in Drama, we will be practising the sailors dance as a group, focusing on our rhythm.

Homework will be given out on Thursday and we ask that homework be handed in on Tuesday. This week’s homework consists of handwriting practice, one side of Maths, one side of English. As well as this, we ask that your child is reading the Oxford Reading Tree book as well as any other reading materials daily.

Your child’s Edmodo username and password is in their school planner if you and your child would like to access Edmodo to revisit educational games and activities.

How you can help your child at home

  • Encourage healthy eating habits - healthy snacks and lunches, and a water bottle
  • Provide a calm environment for your child to study
  • Praise efforts and encourage your child to be independent
  • Refer to your child’s timetable for reminders about library and PE (wear PE uniform on PE days!)
  • Help your child to develop a love of reading- Give praise, use reading as a reward, write in their Home Reader book (Yellow book!).
