What we learnt about this week
We learned about the features and settings of fantasy stories in our English lessons. The students enjoyed discussing the story, A Dark Dark Tale.
In Maths we learned about the importance of measuring accurately and when to use different units of measure. Everybody worked well to measure using the metre stick and measuring tape.
In Science we carried out more investigative work in relation to sound.
As for Humanities, the children enjoyed learning more about Paddington Bear and the history of teddy bears. They brought up the bears they had seen during their trip to the Teddy Ville Museum.
The Year Ones also spent extra time to rehearse their songs and dances for the upcoming school production.
What we plan for next week
For Maths the focus will be on measuring and solving words problems that relate to different units of measure.
In English we will carry on with our fictional writing unit on ‘Fantasy worlds’. We will focus on characters.
As for Science we will continue our ‘Sounds’ unit with a focus on how sound travels.
Generally homework goes home on a Thursday and should be returned by the following Tuesday. Spelling lists can be found at the start of each week in the student planner with a test on Friday during our English lesson.
The homework for this week is:
English: Fantasy Writing sheet
Humanities: Paddington Bear activity sheet
