What we learnt about this week
Our Project Based Learning (PBL) fortnight culminated in this morning’s presentation. Thank you so much for attending. The children worked very hard the past couple of weeks and gave a lot of input into the planning and delivering of the lessons. Ultimately, they learnt some very important things concerning ‘environmentalism’.
Yesterday we visited Teddyville Museum in Batu Ferringhi. The children had the opportunity to see an array of teddy bears and discussed the historical significance of these stuffed toys. It tied in really nicely with our current unit in Humanities. We were complimented on how well the students carried themselves in the museum – well done Year Ones!
Assessment Week for this final term has concluded and the teachers would like to thank the children for their efforts. Also, a big thank you to our parents at home!
It was also Lohithya’s birthday in the week and 1L celebrated with a little party and games.
What we plan for next week
For Maths the focus will be on measuring capacity, length and weight.
In English we will start a new fiction writing unit on ‘Fantasy worlds’.
As for Science we will continue our ‘Sounds’ unit with some experiments involving blowing and test tubes.
Generally homework goes home on a Thursday and should be returned by the following Tuesday. Spelling lists can be found at the start of each week in the student planner with a test on Friday during our English lesson.
The homework for this week is:
Maths: Find the difference
Humanities: Classify toys according to their age groups
How you can help your child at home
- Ask your child to read the time at various times throughout the day.
- Encourage healthy eating habits - healthy snacks and lunches, and a water bottle
- Provide a calm environment for your child to study
- Praise efforts and encourage your child to be independent
- Refer to your child’s timetable for reminders about library, PE and activities (wear PE uniform on PE days)
