An Enriching School Experience
Physical Education is a core component to the on-going health and welfare of our students. A full range of sports are planned throughout the academic year, which includes sports such as football, badminton, basketball and touch rugby. Students have ample opportunity to learn new skills and develop their talents through a range of challenging activities. We encourage students who excel in particular sports to participate in competitions at national or international level and indeed, have international sportspeople within our community.
Straits operates an extensive co-curricular programme for students. A variety of activities are held for one hour every afternoon. Activities are themed to ensure that a range of skills and interests are covered. These themes include Sports; Creativity; school enrichment; as well as Service, Community and Culture. Through participating in activities which are themed in this way the school ensures a balance in experience. Indeed, we value the activity programme highly at SIS, with key learning outcomes attributed to each activity and a continual cycle of evidencing that builds a students’ personal Record of Achievement.
There are also opportunities for students to compete both at inter-house level and for the School in outside competitions, be it sports or otherwise.
